How to find Adventure Inn

Google says we’re in Burtchville Township, and weve learned that it’s best not to argue. The problem is: Burtchville is a township and doesn’t appear on some maps. You’re more apt to see Lakeport or North Lakeport on maps.

To complicate matters, Fort Gratiot — the next township south — is the official designation for the 48059 Zip Code, but we avoid using that because that township has another Shorewood Drive.

Arriving via I-94?

When you arrive in Port Huron at the end of I-94 (and I-69), downtown restaurants are a right turn if you’re hungry.

Otherwise, turn left and follow M-25 north toward Lexington. Adventure Inn is 10.5 miles.

You’ll pass a mall and big-box stores, a residential area, the unincorporated village of Lakeport, and the south and north units of Lakeport State Park.

Turn right onto Lakeshore Road at a Mobil station. After the curve, look for Shorewood, a righthand turn.

Driving east on I-69?

Two choices: Drive all the way into Port Huron and follow the prior directions OR…

Take the Wadhams Road exit, turn left at the bottom of the ramp, and follow a two-lane country route to Adventure Inn.

Drive north on Wadhams. Turn on North River Road after crossing a bridge. That road becomes North Road. Stay on it until Burtch Road. Turn right. Then turn left at the blinking light in Lakeport. Turn right onto Lakeshore Road at a Mobil station. After the curve, look for Shorewood, a righthand turn.
